Speed Post Passport Service

The post is no longer what it was. It is going through a period of profound change. Department of Posts has been taking initiatives , the most recent being the Speed Post Passport Service - a unique partnership between the Department of Posts and the Ministry of External Affairs for the convenience of passport applicants.
 
Now the passport applicants have just to follow five simple steps. There is no need to go to the Passport Office all the way, instead they can walk to the nearest Speed Post and experience the ease of getting a passport.
 

Step - 1 Purchase the Passport Application Form from the Speed Post Office.
Step - 2 Fill in the Passport Application Form.
Step - 3 Get Demand Draft for the amount payable to Regional Passport Officer towards the Passport Fee
Step - 4 Submit the Passport Application Form to the Speed Post Office along with the necessary documents.
Step - 5 Relax! The Passport will reach you through Speed Post.

Speed Post Passport Service essentially involves the following:


Sale of Passport application forms along with envelope
Acceptance of Passport application forms from the customers on behalf of the Ministry of

  External affairs

Checking the Application forms with reference to the Check List
Despatch of the Application form to Regional Passport Office through Speed Post.
Delivery of Passport through Speed Post Service
 
Type of Passport Application Forms to be accepted


Application forms for the issue of new passports will be accepted at the Speed Post offices
 

Other application forms (issue of official passports/diplomatic passports, miscellaneous

  services) will not be accepted.  

 

Charges for the Services
  
Now you can submit your passport applications at more than 1000 post offices across the

   country, at no additional cost.

Charges for Speed Post Passport Service - NIL

 

Documents to be attached

 

        Along with the application, please attach attested or self-attested copies of documents  mentioned in the Information Booklet. Originals of the documents should be produced at the Speed Post Offices.

 

Customer Service

 

      The   applicants   can   know   the   status   of   their   passport by calling the Tele-enquiry number. The applicants need to quote the key number (allotted to them) while making the inquiries.
