The Postal Staff College India, was set up on 27th September, 1977 to meet the training and development needs of the managerial cadres of India Post, to provide leadership in the vocational training of the operative cadres through regional training centres, undertake research in spheres of management of postal systems, and build a postal data bank and documentation centre. The College imparts induction training to probationers of Indian Postal Service and departmental officials promoted to Postal Service Group ‘B’. The College also organizes workshops and management and professional programmes for in-service officers and foreign delegates.
LOCATION
PSCI shifted to its present location in April 1990. The campus is a sprawling compound of more than 16 acres and is located adjacent to the Advanced Level Telecom Training Centre (ALTTC) in the Government of India Offices Complex, Ghaziabad. The distance from Delhi Airport is around 50 km and the distance from New Delhi Railway Station is around 30 km.

The climate of Ghaziabad is somewhat extreme. It is pretty cold down to 3 C at night in Dec/ Jan. The mercury touches 45 C sometimes in May/ June.
How to Reach the PSCI from Delhi/ New Delhi/ Nizamuddin Railway Station
(i) By Train
Ghaziabad Railway Station is at a distance of 30 Kms. and it is 45 minutes journey by train from Delhi/ New Delhi Railway Station. EMU trains are available between Delhi / New Delhi and Ghaziabad. PSCI is 8 Km from Ghaziabad Railway Station, Auto Rickshaws charge are Rs. 60/- for PSCI. PSCI is 35 KM by Road from New Delhi Railway Station and 30 Km from Old Delhi Station via Shahdara Dilshad Garden towards Ghaziabad. From Nizamuddin Railway Station the distance is 27 Km to PSCI.
(ii) By Road
Taxi charges are Rs, 700/- from these stations. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Buses ply regularly from Shivaji Stadium Bus Terminal at Cannaught Place to ALTTC Bus Stop. Private Buses also ply frequently from Anand Vihar Bus Terminal (Opp. Pacific Mall) in Delhi to ALTTC Bus Stop. At ALTTC Bus Stop Rickshaws are available for Rs. 10/- upto PSCI and the distance is 1.2 Km.
From Delhi Airport
From Delhi Airport taxies can be taken for PSCI. The distance is 65 Km. The route would be via Ring Road upto Nizamuddin Bridge and then as per above map. Charges would be around Rs. 1,000/-. The best option, is to take buses running from Airport to Connaught Place. Tariff Rs. 40/- and Rs. 50/- or a taxi upto Shivaji Stadium in Connaught Place and then take DTC service or ALTTC bus stop.
Alternatively one can take taxi from Airport upto Anand Vihar, Bus Terminal & then take ALT buses from Pacific Mall – Ticket Rs.10/- and Rs.16/-.Arrival and Departure
Participants are advised to arrive one day before the commencement of the training. Participants are permitted to leave only after valediction and completion of the Course. Usually the valedictory function gets over by 1630 hrs. PSCI provides transportation to Railway Stations and to the Bus Terminals ( Anand Vihar or Kashmiri Gate ) in Delhi by Staff Bus in one trip on completion of training. Arrangement for hiring of taxis on payment basis from local agencies can be made by PSCI to go to Airport/ Railway Station.A sketch map of the road from Delhi to PSCI, Ghaziabad is given below:

FACULTY
The College has a core faculty with experience in postal and financial management. It also draws upon the expertise of professionals, consultants, practicing managers, university professors and trainers of other reputed training institutions as its visiting faculty.TRAINING PROGRAMMES
Specific programmes for SAARC countries are also undertaken.
Training Sessions
Training is given in the Training Block located inside the Campus. The training starts at 1000 hrs and finishes at 1700hrs on typical days. Participants are expected to dress in a decent manner while attending the training sessions.India Post has modernized its existing systems and procedures by computerizing them and has also started marketing new services based on I.T. To face these new challenges, PSCI has modernized its computer laboratory completely to provide an Integrated Computer Network System with E-mail and Internet facilities. A state of the art infrastructure in terms of Hardware, Software and Network is available for imparting training.
Cyber room for browsing Internet is available in the hostel.LIBRARY
A well equipped library with 12000 Books and 70 Magazines is available Laptop Computers are available with Librarian for issue to the trainees.
OTHER FACILITIES
PSCI has a Gymnasium equipped with cardio and Weight training equipments among others.
Tennis Court & Badminton Court with night illumination facility
Billiards, Table Tennis, Chess, and facilities for outdoor sports such as Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis, Basketball and Walking Track are also available.
Audio Visual Room
For Training purposes and entertainment an Audio Visual Room is available. Popular English and Indian Feature Films and documentaries are also availalable for issue.Accommodation & Mess Arrangements
PSCI has its hostel in the Campus, where 60 participants are accommodated. Accommodation for the families of the participants is not available.
Mess arrangements are co-operatively managed by a Mess Committee. The participants have to pay in advance on weekly basis to the Mess Secretary.PSCI has 24 hours assured power and water supply.
Medical Facility:
For all minor ailments - CGHS Dispensary is about 1 Km from PSCI. Participants are advised to bring their CGHS Cards. Participants can take Medical consultation from private hospital viz. Sharma Nursing Home and Family Health Care at Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad which is very close to PSCI. Medical bills for consultation & medicine etc. duly verified by the doctor will be reimbursed to the officer by PSCI. For serious ailments – there are Government Empanelled Hospitals from which treatment can be availed.
The nearest market within walking distance is located in Sector – 23, Raj Nagar. A Post Office is located in the Campus. For making STD Calls a P.C.O. booth is available in the Hostel.
Climate :
The Climate of Ghaziabad is somewhat extreme. It is pretty cold down to 3 C at night in December/ January. Cold weather is experienced from October to March. Summer is experienced from April to September with monsoon season from mid June to Mid September. The mercury touches 45 C some times in May/June. One should come properly equipped with clothing as per climatic conditions.
